The Staff of Living Word

Senior Pastors –
Pastors Alan & Barbara Dean

pastoralandpastorbarbFrom the time he was a young boy, Pastor Al Dean felt the strong call of God on His life. As he reached young adulthood, he was supernaturally drawn to fully surrender his life to Jesus Christ. He was instantly filled with an intense craving for the Word of God and purposed in his heart to know God more intimately through prayer and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

For 13 years, Pastor Al served the Lord in any and every capacity at Cornerstone World Outreach Ministries in Sioux City, Iowa, where he met his future wife, Barbara. They were joined in the covenant of marriage in 1985 and served God in the church together. Pastor Al was mentored by Pastor Larry Gordon during those years and, in 1995, was sent out to begin pastoring in Spencer, Iowa at Living Word Outreach Ministries.

Pastors Al and Barb obeyed the call of God to teach and preach His Word of Faith and introduce people to the wonderful ministry of the Holy Spirit and all of His gifts. Their heart’s yearn to see lives changed by the power of God through learning the truth of the Word of God and building a real relationship with Jesus Christ. They believe that God loves all people and has a great plan for their individual lives as they become doers of the Word of God. It is their burning desire to see the Body of Christ blessed and ready to be a blessing to all those around them. Their ministry is marked with demonstrations of the power of God through the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and anointed, Holy Ghost preaching.

Pastors Al and Barb have seven amazing children, Jojo, Mike, Pat, Tige, Zak, Anna and Andrew.
They are also blessed with fifteen wonderful grandchildren.

Youth Ministry –
Pastor Lonnie & Cindy Meister

pastorlonnieandcindyPastor Lonnie Meister has a supernatural testimony about his walk with the Lord. In October of 1999, at the age of 40, he heard the salvation message for the very first time while attending a men’s conference in Des Moines, Iowa. He responded to the tugging in his heart and invited Jesus Christ into his life to be his Lord and personal Savior. That very night, the Lord told him to attend Living Word and serve the pastor there. One month later to the day, his wife, Cindy, gave her life to Christ.

Right away, they both started reading and studying the Bible. They knew that God had a wonderful plan for their family and it would take it’s course as they continued to study God’s Word and serve at Living Word wherever they were needed. After two and a half years of being faithful at Living Word in different areas of ministry ranging from the kitchen, to the nursery to children’s ministry, they began sowing their lives into the youth ministry.

On September 20th of 2009, after years of serving as the ‘Youth Leader’ at Living Word, by God’s direction, Lonnie was ordained as the Youth Pastor of Living Word Outreach Ministries.

Pastor Lonnie and Cindy know that God has a great plan and purpose for this generation! Their hearts are set to serve the youth and help prepare them to be used by God every day of their lives!

Pastor Lonnie and Cindy have four beautiful daughters and two wonderful sons-in-law.
Tonya, April & Ryan, Bliss & Ryan, and Ali. They are also blessed with two precious grandsons, Caleb and Ethan.

Children’s Ministry –
Pastor Curt & Tonya Langner

pastorcurtandtonyaPastor Curt Langner was born in Spencer, IA, and raised on a farm outside of Ruthven, IA. He accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at confirmation to the United Methodist Church in Ruthven at the age of 14. The power of God was evident in his life from then on, even though he was running from the calling God had placed on his life. At the age of 31, he recommitted his life to Christ, and has been on the fast track of life ever since!

Pastor Curt has been involved heavily in Children’s Ministry at Living Word Outreach Ministries for over ten years and was ordained as Living Word’s Children’s Pastor on September 20th, 2009! He is passionate about reaching children with the love of Jesus Christ! His messages are relevant to kids and adults alike, and his energy while preaching keeps everyone focused in on the message!

Tonya was born in Ft. Dodge, IA and was raised in Arnold’s Park, IA. She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at 14 years of age, but didn’t start living whole heartedly for Jesus until 17 years later. She’s been involved in ministry with Pastor Curt every step of the way, and Her passion matches her husband’s, reaching children with the love of Jesus Christ.

“A profound moment in my life” Tonya says, “was on a Sunday morning when I was teaching the children, I asked everyone to open their Bibles. One little girl asked, ‘What’s a bible?’ and I’ve known from that moment on that my life’s passion would be to teach kids about my savior, Jesus Christ.”

Pastor Curt and Tonya have six precious sons and a beautiful daughter-in-law! Josh & Krista, Caleb, Ben, Jeremiah, Joe, and in May of 2010, little Asher joined the family! They are also head over heals in love with their adorable little grandkids, Ava and Reign.
